Service Learning Curriculum
The Center for Global Impact is committed to shaping the next generation of leaders into individuals who possess a global perspective - the ability to see beyond their immediate cultural environment, the desire to learn about the life and death challenges that many people around the world face every day, and the courage to step up to personally invest in individuals, families, and communities in an effort to address those challenges.
One way that The Center seeks to accomplish these goals is to develop an educationally based service-learning curriculum that can be incorporated into a variety of public, private, and home school settings. A service learning curriculum for Cambodia is currently being developed to provide print material, digital images, and video files that will introduce students to the world.
Students will be able to listen to real-life people describe daily life in their culture. They will have the opportunity to see the types of homes, roads, and gathering places that are used by people in that area. Students will read about the technological, medical, financial, and agricultural challenges that exist in geographic regions. Finally, students will be provided an opportunity to develop a Classroom Impact Plan as an academic exercise or, if the student chooses, as an actual response to what he or she has learned. |
